DIMOS EXPANDS PRODUCTION CAPACITIES

Despite the Corona crisis, the special-purpose vehicles made by mechanical engineering company DIMOS continue to sell well. In order to keep pace with the order situation in the long term, the manufacturer of special forklifts is investing in a new production building at its headquarters in Petersberg. At 3,600 m2, the new hall will be twice as large as the existing production facility. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on June 24. From completion in the first quarter of 2021, the new building will mainly house the final assembly positions, as these require more and more space.

In recent years, DIMOS has seen a significant increase in global demand for special transport solutions such as complex automated equipment and driverless transport systems with load capacities beyond the 30-ton mark. In addition, the increasing number of cycles for DIMOS' core products, such as the multi-directional sideloader, also requires larger premises. With the expansion through the new building, DIMOS will meet this challenge. The new hall will be used for final assembly, have a loading and logistics area as well as a showroom for standard products . A lot of space will also be opened up there for the test assembly of plants, which is particularly needed in the run-up to the delivery of large projects. Four overhead cranes with a lifting capacity of 25 tons each and additional slewing cranes positioned on the floor of the respective final assembly stations equip the hall, which is around twelve meters high.

We are aware that many machine builders are struggling in the current situation," says Pascal Schütz, responsible for sales and development at DIMOS. "Nevertheless, the investment in the new hall is a milestone for the further development of our heavy-duty area and our product focus," adds Schütz. New infrastructures and manufacturing processes benefit DIMOS' future-oriented strategic focus. In this way, the company ensures that it can maintain its position as a notable player in international competition .
