The multifunctional vehicle for cargo handling at the airport
X-Way Mover from DIMOS: 5 times the air cargo transport capacity
170 billion parcels per year and an increase of 50 % by 2027: IATA's e-commerce experts see a huge rush on airport logistics - in addition to the already increasing tendency to ship by air freight. Modern cargo handling equipment such as the X-Way Mover from DIMOS must be able to cope with this. It is the world's first vehicle to offer all five important ULD transport functions from landside to airside in one.
Four of the world's largest freight operators are already using it: the X-Way Mover combines the functions of truck dock, transfer vehicle (TV), pallet mover, ULD mover and stacker crane or elevating transfer vehicle (ETV). It therefore covers all ULD handling processes and interfaces at the airport - from landside to airside. ''This results in less to no downtime, lower operating and maintenance costs and increased storage capacities. Combined with the accelerated and individual handling processes of the X-Way Mover, these are the ingredients for air cargo operators to withstand the rising yet dynamic freight rates of the coming years," explains Pascal Schütz, Managing Director of DIMOS Maschinenbau.
Multifunctional and multidirectional
Conventional ULD movers or front loaders usually only have a two-way chassis and require wide aisles and a lot of space for maneuvering. The X-Way Mover from DIMOS solves this problem with patented 360° steering and a multi-way chassis that enables it to switch from longitudinal to transverse travel without stopping. This makes it particularly maneuverable and flexible, and not just as a ULD transporter. With its height-adjustable platform, the X-Way Mover replaces truck docks and can be used both for loading and unloading trucks and for transferring them to dollies. The roller deck integrated into the platform can be controlled proportionally, so that the transfer speed of the ULD and the synchronized movement of the opposite roller platform can be actively controlled. The X-Way Mover in the form of a storage and retrieval unit or ETV also enables ULD containers to be stored and retrieved up to the third rack level at a maximum height of 7.5 meters. The vehicle's roller platform has maximum stability and safety thanks to two lifting masts. This enables a high level of positioning accuracy to be achieved effectively and independently of the load. Users thus maximize their flexibility in warehouse design, as the warehouse can be positioned individually in the hall instead of just thinking in aisles.
Individual configuration for versatile use
Thanks to the standardized yet modular design of the vehicle, the X-Way Mover can be individually adapted to the user's requirements, processes and circumstances. For example, a vehicle version with an individual lifting height, in WEL (Wide Edge Leading) or NEL (Narrow Edge Leading) arrangement with a width of 10, 15 or 20 feet and with a load capacity of 7 to 14 t can be configured as required. The same applies to the drive type. The all-electric X-Way Mover is available with both powerful lithium-ion batteries and classic lead-acid batteries, which are ideal for shorter operating times. In addition to the fully electrified version, there is also the option of a diesel or hybrid drive for outdoor use. The X-Way Mover is also available as a free-moving version or with forced guidance on both sides.
